About three months have passed since I came here. The time flew faster than I thought. At first, I worried about whether I could catch up with my classes. Everything I experienced in America was the first time for me, but American education style helped me grow up as a person .
First of all, I have learned the importance of independence. Before studying abroad, I used to depend on friends, because teachers gave us same assignment in our classes in Japan, so I didn't have to remember what I had to do, so I always ask my friends to remind me what to do. However, homework in America is a little bit different than Japan. Most of the homework in America involves survaying about something or making a poster by myself after each student decides different topic, so it brought out my irresponsibility clearly. Sometimes I forget homework in my classes at the beginning of the semester, since even though I wrote homework down in my schedule, I expected that someone would remind me what to do at the bottom of my mind, but of course, nobody told me about it. I realized that in Japan I have relied too much on others before, and also my friends helped me get high grade, it was indirectly though. I ashamed of doing that, and at the same time, I decided to do something on my own. But the time when I have to do something important on my own will come in the future, so being more responsible myself will help me when I start my future job.
I can communicate with people better than I used to. When I was in Japan, I didn't like speaking in front of people, so I've avoided doing that for a long time. However, I had a chance to do that in America. For example, I had more opportunities to give some presentations in front of people or discuss something with my friends than I did in Japan. Even though I don't like to do that, I had to do that, and also I spent most of the time talking with my friends or teachers. I am getting used to it through my classes. Now that I can communicate with people better than I used to. I think that no matter what your job is like, you need to communicate with people, and also it is very important for business and my life as well.
I think that the most important thing I've ever learned through this semester is teamwork. I had a lot of opportunities to work together in America. In Japan, I've never done such a thing before. American education style is totally different from Japanese one, so I didn't know why I did some assignments as a group. Though it was difficult for me to work together at first, I noticed how importance a teamwork is. I felt it was significant, especially when I created a commercial and made a presentation about the cultural deference between Japan and America. Each person has a good point, so I can support each other's weak points, for instance, when I prepared for my presentation with Erina, I had never given an presentation in front of people in English,so she gave me some advices, such as how to stand while presentations, how to talk and so on, but I helped her make a poster instead. Because I was good at creating something. That's the most biggest advantage of teamwork, and I thought that it was helpful for my job I would get in the future.
I have learned a lot of important things through this semester. If I had not gone to America to study abroad, I might not have had such precious experiences. I have been impressed with wonderful American education style. These experiences will be very helpful for my future job. My educational experiences in America definitely leads me to become a promising business woman in the future.
